Im overweight, 20kg. (i donno how mnay pounds that is.. 30? 40?) i am tall so its doesnt look as bad as it sounds : p But within the past year ive noticed that after eating a heavy meal (pizza etc) my heart-rate goes up real high, even now, its been 2 hours since i ate and i have sat on the couch the entire time (i felt i may burst if i got up) and my heart rate is 90bpm..doing nothing!! I also find it more difficult than usual to breath, as if my lungs shrunk :o What makes this happen?
yes i should avoid these meals.. but theyre my fave! im not one of those people who moans 'oh ive tried everything and nothing works' coz when i actually bother to try something - it works, but i AM one of those people who is so damn in love with food that i dont want to try! I just wanna know if im gonna die if i keep like this! (i eat healthy half the time and bad the other half!)

As we age, we tend to get gastric problems. Probably you have heartburn and/or indigestion, if some OTC remedies don't clear it up, then see your doc. Not to mention the obvious, if it makes you hurt...STOP.

Psylent...This happens to me and my hubby when we eat. If we eat a large meal that we love, our heart rates go up (yes, we both have high blood pressure that is controlled). Our BP is fine till we eat the big meals. We've been told this, when a large meal is digested, your body is focusing on the job entailed (which is digesting all that food sitting in there). So, all the focus your body is working on is digesting that food and doing its job. After the food passes, your blood pressure will be coming down. Now why :nono: do we do that to ourselves to begin with? Because it tastes good. It's an indulgence. But does our body like to work that hard? It's doing what it needs too. I think the body would work a lot less if we worked it harder with exercise, so that a big meal didn't overwork it.
If it worries you that much than eat smaller portions in intervals.
