Hi, I just found this site today. My husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer July of 2005. We both had colonoscopies done on the same day. (I needed to have one because of family history of colon cancer. He had his done because if I had to do it than so did he :) ) We were shocked to find out that my husband had a mass located just below the Sigmoiod colon. He hadn't had any symptoms at all. We were told that it was most likely a cancer and pathology confirmed it. He was refered to the Mayo Clinic and further testing found 1 lymph node positive with cancer. He went through 5 1/2 weeks of radiation and Chem (5 FU) to shrink the tumor. He had surgury to remove tumor and resection done on Oct 25. He curently has an iliostomy and will be having it reversed mid July. As of tomorrow he will be 1/2 way through his chemotherepy treatments. (12 cylcles of FOLFOX) and 46 hrs of continuous infusion of 5-FU) given bi-weekly. He has been unable to return to his job due to side effects of the chemo. ( mostly fatigue and skin ulcers developing around his stoma)
We feel very fortunate to have caught his cancer fairly early. It is scary to think what might have been if we waited for symptoms before having colonoscopies. (We are 52 years young  )

Welcome to the board...I am sorry for your husband's diagnosis. It sounds like he and I are pretty much on the same schedule. I was also diagnosed in July, had pre-op radiation and chemo, then surgery 11/17, and just had folfox treatment 3 of 8 this week. I hope to have my reversal in late May or so. It is a very tough road for him, and for you, I know. I feel so lucky to have my mom and my husband supporting me, as it has been difficult to perform my stay-at-home mom duties while undergoing treatment, etc. (I am 32 years young, myself.)
I hope you will find as much support and helpful hints from the veteran's on this board as I have. It has been such a great place for me to vent and to find out further information about this horrible disease. The folks here are very helpful and kind and can relate to your sitauation in ways that many cannot.
Best of luck to you both,

Hi ,My husband has made it halfway through his chemo treatments, :bouncing: hooray! The queesyness hit him fast this time. Usually he doesn't start to feel ill untill the third day.(after the rest of the 5-FU is finished going in him) He had me drive home from the cancer center  so I know he is feeling crappy.
He was diagnosed at stage III , but after surgury he is stage II. :) We had good news from pathology that lymph nodes were no longer involved.(before radiation at least 1 lymph node had tested possitive with cancer)
Thank you for your replies. May the angels watch over you  ,larbo's wife
