I am looking for a good rheumathologist/internal medicine dr. in the Memphis Tennessee area. Can anyone suggest/recommend anyone? I use to see a Dr. in the Little Rock area, but I want to find one in Memphis that would be a little closer to me.

Try Memphis Rheumatology and Osteoporosis Center. They seem to be a pretty good group of doctors. Dr. Alissandratos is my doctor. They are located in Cordova on Trinity Creek Cove. Good luck.

I hope you have better luck getting in with one of the doctors in this medical group than I did. My rheumatologist stopped practicing a year ago and tried to get me in with one of them, but they told her that they weren't accepting any new patients. So, I ended up going to a new rheumy in Tupelo. It does sometimes help if your old doctor's office is the one that calls them first and asks about it.

Dear Seminole, If you know or suspect you have lupus, you might ask before booking if a practice has a good number/variety of lupus patients.

In my area of the country, there's a magazine that publishes yearly a "best doctors" medical article, where DOCTORS are polled to name practices to which they'd themselves go. (That's how I found the rheumie I now see---best health decision I ever made.)

And if there's a teaching hospital (medical) nearby, perhaps you could get some leads from it. Good luck! from Vee
