Hi everyone:

I'm new to the boards and and I have been living with numb, burning feet for about 5 years now. I have disks problems at L4-5 and stenosis. I had back surgery in 1984 that was very successful but about 5 years ago I reinjured my back and its been down hill..... My nero thinks I have radicuopathy sp? not neuropathy and wants to do a QST and QSRT test. My EMG studies are all abnormal also. My nerurosurgeon is ready to operate, but I',m not ready. They are not sure how much they can really improve my situation. I am on neurontin, but it has destroyed my teeth. My nero won't switch me to Lyrica until the results of the QST tests because its not for radicuopathy sp?

Any feedback on these tests would be appreciated. Please help as I am seeing my dentist and my pd also my nero all next week and I need some ammunition on thisl

Thanks

I wish I would of seen this earlier.
Radiculopathy is imflamation of the nerves out side the spinal canal.I have had this for at least 10 years.
Remember an EMG/NCS are suggestive test.
If they feel this is caused by a disk pinching off the nerves have they done a mylegram to see if there is nerve impingement? Are you seeing a neurosurgeon with a spine fellowship?

Hi Toni:

Yes my nero has a spine fellowship. I have had all of the usual tests done. Its just that the QST and QSRT seem to be unusual. Everyone I ask never herd of them before. I have had these problems for so long now and now she is doing these tests because of the drug Lryica. Have you had these tests done?

Thanks Dyan

No, I have not had this one done. Its a sensory test used when they feel that an EMG has not given evidence to your symptoms.I'm not quite sure why they are with holding the lyrica. They had prescribed me lyrica for what they thought was radiculopathy. Now they aren't sure what is going on.I had an allergic reaction to the lyrical.I am having a deep muscle EMG in a few weeks.
