I have had hip pain for the last 4 months and it is getting worse, my doctor put me on mobic 15mg and it helps some, my question is what is the usual procedure for pain in the hip area shouldnt he have sent me for a xray? i did not have any fall or any accident that would have cause me this hip pain.

Honestly, general practitioners - well, the area that I live in are "lazy" people.
Maybe "lazy" is not the right word, but they tend to keep your visit as brief as possible so that they could see the next patient- in- waiting.
You need to "ask" them for x-rays on the hips and some blood test. when they finally found a diagnose , he/she will recommend you to see a specialist at the hospital for second opinion.
It took me several visists and surfing the net to find out what is wrong with me. Sometimes I wish I was a doctor myself.

I have had hip pain for a long time. I finally got to go to an orthopedic surgeon and he thinks it is bursitis. I got a cortisone injection and it has really helped.
