Hi all--
I have experienced headaches for a long time but they have been mild and amenable to over the counter drugs, and I have had neuro exams to make sure nothing dangerous. However, now I am on the drug accutane which has headaches as a side effect for some people--and it is making me get a different kind of headache where I feel dizzy, off balance and a little throbbing. I am looking for a way to deal with this so that I can continue my treatment with accutane, which is otherwise very good. Anyone know of the best painkillers I can take for this dizzy headache??? Thank you so much!!

Your headaches sound like they may be migraines. The next time you have one try to keep track of all accompaying symptoms, such as dizziness, throbbing, etc. Stomach upset and sensativity to light are also very common. Tell your M.D. about all symptoms as that helps diagnosis. I have very bad migraines and have found great relief from Relpax. I don't know if you could use ti with your other med. but I would ask about it. It's main drawback is cost. Very expensive. If you see a neuro. he may be able to give you samples if he decides you should try it. If not ther are many other migraine meds. Hope this helps some.

how long have you been on the accutane? sometimes these types of symptoms will go away with time. the problem w/ getting meds to cover up the symptoms or make it better is that sometimes the use of these drugs can make you get rebound headaches which can be really bad. Migranes are really different for everyone vs. the textbook migraines that they once beleived. What you are having could be migraines but could also just be side effects to the accutane as you said. I would talk to your family doctor and if they think it wise see a neurologist.

good luck!
Amanda
