I'm prone to Kidney Infections and am as this moment trying to recover from a very severe kidney infection. I was in so much pain when seeing my doctor that I didn't want to stay long enough to ask her any more questions....so, I'm just wondering, any possible long term damage from kidney infections?

Hi....to answer your question, yes, there can definitely be long term damage to your kidney by repeated infections. There is a member here with the screen name "feelbad" that could give you more information than I can. There have been cases where the damage has been so severe, patients have required surgical removal of the affected kidney. By no means am I saying this is your situation, but you need to be checked out completely and on a regular basis to keep this from happening.

Please, go to your doc ASAP and do whatever it takes to retain healthy kidneys. Both myself and "feelbad" suffer different kidney ailments, and trust me, you need to intervene and treat this and try to prevent future infections to the best of your and your doc's abilities. Feelbad and myself truly understand how debilitating kidney pain can be. We both live with chronic, intractable pain on a daily basis. We also post on the pain management board if you need to talk about your pain and need support. Please keep posting, ok?? Take care.

Yes.
I have severe damage to my left kidney from 30 years of chronic infections. The scarring and damage was noticed 10 yrs ago, however since the kidney still functions, they have not removed it.

Good luck and get treatment as SOON as you feel one coming on.
