Yesterday I took my toe nail polish off and noticed that my big toe nail looked yellow and mottled. I noticed it when I put the polish on, but now the spot is much bigger.

Is this fungus? Since then it feels weird, like there is something clipped to it. (Slight pressure). Is this a sign, or is this part all in my head?

I told my Mom and she said that she recently heard that listerine mouthwash will get rid of it. I see that a lot of you have used vics, but has anyone tried listerine? Should I just call the doctor and see what he thinks?

Your doc will tell you to go on liver killing dangerous meds.......not the right route just for the cosmetic look of your toenail. I used vinager and it worked wonders, despite what some say about it not working.....it DEFINATELY helped me.
Sounds like you may have a fungus. That is how mine started and I kept covering it up with polish and after 7 years it lifted, seperated and became deformed. After using vinager for 18 months it is finally clear flat and beautiful again.
You should give it a shot.....keep in mind that any and every treatment will not cure it overnight, the infected nail cannot be helped, it has to GROW off. Good Luck.

I've been using Amoresse Thymol for a little over a year now and can see a difference. It's better than dealing with harmful drugs where you would have to get liver tests and all that...

Give Amoresse Thymol a try though. It will take a looooong time; don't let that discourage you! Stay diligent!

I haven't tried listerine yet but I did read something in a book my mother had that a bunch of people listed different stuff that helped them and a lot of other things. They had listerine listed under nail fungus. The person said they soak their nails in it 4 times daily and had improvement after a few weeks. If you try it you will have to let us all know how it works.

Greetings Want2Learn,

While my condition is nowhere near a healthily pink-state, it is much better than a year ago. Right now the nail that was the worse turned white (have no idea what that means) and is easier to trim/cut. So I'm not rid of this nasty condition and wouldn't be caught dead swimming now (I miss swimming) but I'm going to keep using Thymol until a) nothing improves beyond this point or b) the condition is improved / cured.

I should also mention that I've tried tons of products over the Internet without success and this is the only thing that at least improved my condition.

Wish I could have given you a more positive report. I'm hoping that the Thymol takes longer that the standard year.

Will continue to update everybody. ;)
