i need your help guys- i posted on here a month or so ago about my fear of docs and going to find out the cause of my headaches, off balance feelings, etc, scared to death it could be a tumor or something, well i finally went and they gave me a CT scan and it all came back normal, i thought my headaches were getting better, because i weaned myself off of the 4 a day excedrin habit i had(which i may add was pure agony for those of you needing to withdraw), now the past couple of days i have been getting sharp shooting pains all over my head, it scared me bad the other night because it lasted for a good hour, i'm wondering if it could be an anuerysm or something just waiting to burst, or if that could be a form of migraine, it feels like i am being stabbed, please help!! thanks case

How long have you been weaning yourself off of Excedrens? The stabbing pain could be from that?

If you are concerned, strongly suggest that you contact your doctor ASAP. Just pick up the phone & ask if the doctor is in? If the answer is yes, then say:

"I'm hurting really bad & I'm on my over." And, hang up.

This way, you don't give the girls at the front desk time to "talk" you out of coming over. The doctor will check you out & more than likely give you something for the pain. :D

Good Luck.

case1,
You may want to google thundrclap headace.
"If you get a thunderclap headache, you won't soon forget it.
In 60 seconds or less you've gone from your normal business to a hair-grabbing, brain-numbing agony. It's obvious how these headaches got their name!"
good luck

has it gotten better? I know you are scared of docs but you should find a good neurologist or such. You are probably having some sort of migraine headache which can be triggered from stess, foods and so much more! How long have you weened yourself off of the over the counters?

I was also having "lighnting bolt" type HA's on the right side behind my eye. So bad that it would make my eye close and tears would come out. They would come and go some times but when the migraine would get bad they were continuous. When I went to my neurologists, she said it was the 5th cranial nerve inflammed and put me on a 6 day prednisone pack. This helped tremendously and I don't have the sharp shooting "lightning bolt" pains any more. I know you said yours are all over your head but, it could be withdrawals from the excedrin. My neuro said NO MORE Excedrin Tension Headache at all. This causes rebound headaches. Fortunately, I did not have any withdrawals but, she also gave me Vicodin to help with that.

My suggestion is to face your fear and go to the doc. You might be surprised and get a really good doc like I did. She is GREAT and put me on a path of hope and a good regimen of meds, vitamins, and physical therapy (E-Stim). She has even sent me to a pain specialist to get to the root of the problems. I was scared to death about the pain specialist. I was so scared that he was just going to take away all my pain meds and then when I needed it I wouldn't have anything to take for my HA"s. I was wrong. He is just trying to get to the root of the problems and hopefully I will not have to take the Hydrocodone but sparingly (sp). We are starting with facet injections in the neck and then botox injections. I HOPE it works because I don't want to be on Hydrocodone any more than I have to.

Anyway, enough about me, I just hope you come to a good solution for YOU! Keep us informed.
