I'd kick him to the curb and find a new DR.Your symptoms are signs of a neurological disorder. If he didn't do an mri ,how would he know if the disk had slipped.
Some Docs are just ignorant.Find yourself one that will listen.I had 2 previous neurologist befor I found one that listened.Good luck to you

Dolphin,
I agree with Toni, find a new dr, one that will listen to you. We all have to be very pro active with our care, if you think it is MS then you need to communicate that to your dr so he can send you to a neuro. Keep copies of your medical records and tests.

Learn all that you can about MS, go to the MSSociety web site and you can learn alot there, then when you go to the Neuro you will understand what he is talking about. Knowledge is power :)

Keep us updated OK

Hi Dolphin,

If you like your Dr for other reasons, just simply ask him/her to order an MRI. You do not need to have a neuro order an MRI.

Did you go to your Dr. with the thought of MS for your symptoms or is your Dr the one who suggested it might be MS?

I did all of my testing through my GP, who is a great hand-holder and I had no idea what MS symptoms were. She even suggested possible MS before the MRI proved lesions. A GP is always easier to get in to see then a neuro. Most GP's have better bedside manners then a Neuro. My GP will aslo return my call within 2 hours if I have a question. I don't think a neuro would be so kind and understanding, considering it takes about 4 weeks to get an appointment with one.

I have not been dx yet, but if I went directly to a neuro, I would have no clue that I might have possible MS. I thought I had stroke, but it was my GP who enlightened me and is not afraid to say the words "MS", unlike my neuro (and most neuros) will not dx without 3 or more lesions (I only have 2).

I hope you find somebody (specialist or GP) who you feel comfortable with to deal with the long road ahead. Best wishes to you ;)
