I am not sure if this could be heart related at all, but thought you guys would probably know. I woke up last night with my right hand swollen to the point where I could hardly close it. There was no injury to it and it was not painful - just swollen. I worked with it a few times and eventually went back to sleep. It was fine when I woke up this morning.
Could this be heart related? I do wake up with numb hands fairly often, but it is usually the left one. I have type II diabetes and hypertension, but they are both under control. I am 44 years old.
Today is Friday and I got home after office hours. Otherwise I would have called my cardiologist.
Thanks!
Ramona

mama,
A right had swollen on ONE occasion really has to mean an injury or an arthritic process, whether or not you are aware of it.
Chilll it and keep it raised over your head (easier lying down) and take aspirin...maybe 6 a day for a couple days.
I'm SURE there's no need for a cardiologist, but if it doesn't resolve in a few days probably an X-ray is a good idea.

I agree with Lenin. There's no need for a cardiologist, and no need for any other doctor either if the swelling resolved and hasn't returned.
