View Full Version : Blood in stools

This past month or so (not the first time), I've noticed that I have blood in my stools that usually occurs about once or twice a week.
Well the thing is, the stools will pass out fine with no blood until I have a harder stool that has to pass out. Then there will be blood in the water (slowly) after that hard stool is passed out. Sorry I know it sounds horrible. After that, it feels a little sore.

Yesterday my stools were black which is unusual but no blood !

I'm 23. I usually go to the toilet once a day - no more than that. As for my
diet I always eat at least an apple a day sometimes other fruits as well. I do eat quite alot of junk food - sometimes two packs of crisps (potato chips).

Should I be worried?

You could just try a stool softner, but to be absolutely sure, go to your GP and see what he says. You might need a colonoscopy - its the only real way to make absolutely sure theres nothing wrong down there.
Take care of you

Any unexplained bleeding should be investigated.I think you need to go and see your doctor and arrange for some tests to find out why there is blood in your stools. It's the only way you are going to find out what is causing the bleeding.

You could have hemmoroids or a fistula but better to have a proper diagnosis to be certain, otherwise you will be constantly worrying about it. Also if there was something more sinister, the quicker you find out, the better it would be. Early diagnosis has the best chance of successful treatment.

Best Wishes
