I know weight gain on prednisone is temporary but how long does it take to come off? I have been on it for a total of 3 weeks since mid january and I finally just noticed the weight gain. Is it water retention or actual weight? It's only about 5 lbs but it came on so quickly. How long should I wait to see if it comes off before trying to lose it?

I think it's actaul weight. The reason you gain weight is because in increases your appetite. The amount of time it takes to come off depends on when you start working at making it come off. you will not just loose it without dieting to do so, or working out more unfortunately. 3 weeks is a pretty long time to be on prednisone? Do you mind saying why the doctor has put you on it for this long?
