Does anyone know if taking 2 advil every night for about a year is considered long term? Do you know what side effects this could cause? I have a bad problem with my neck and I take 2 to cut down on the inflammation before I go to sleep. Lately, I am really drowsy and tired, and lightheaded and i am trying to find out if maybe the advil is causing it? Thanks

this is defintely long term but I don't know what kind of side effects it could cause. YOu should talk to your doctor about this. It might be OK if it is something your doctor has prescribed. you should also be able to call advil customer service line and see if anyone has reported this kind of a side effect.

good luck,
Amanda

Perhaps you could switch to Motrin, Aleve or Tylenol and see what happens?

There are some really ugly side effects associated with all Ibuprofen drugs (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin). You really should make your doctor aware of this pain and see what he/she recommends. Symptoms are so hard to figure out, the same symptom can mean different things for different people. Even if it is not associated to the Advil use, these symptoms could be a warning sign that your doctor could help with.

I take almost 6 ibuprofen everday. [same thing as advil] It's not absolutely harmful, but it's not also safe. It does have somewhat of a damaging effect on your stomach, and over time your body is going to become immune to it, wearing off the effects of the pills, only making you take more to compensate. I've talked to my doctor about my dosage, and he said that it's okay to take it everday, just not over 8 a day. Just don't over do it, and you should be fine.
