I need some advice. I am kind of concerned for my 2 yr old. She had a cbc in 2004 sometime and it was normal. Lately here is what she is experiencing I don't know if she has joint pain because she does not tell me if anything hurts yet,She is a bit behind in that area. But she had anemia, she is very pale she has bruises all over her legs especially,I don't even know where they come from. She is sick more than half the year. This year alone in dec 05 she had pneumonia (again). with afever over 103. in Jan she had a fever over 103. also with no cause. In february she had another fever over 102. with no cause and a few days ago she had a fever over 101. with no cause yet again. She was sick like this last winter also. She also gets sick and fevers in the summer also. This winter has not been as bad because of the warmer days we had.
Thanks

Your best bet would be to have a CBC completed on her. The bruises may come hand in hand with being anemic. However, I would express your concerns with your Pediatrician. Where are they concluding that the fevers are coming from?
It may just be that she is getting little infections causing her fevers and she bruises easily. My younger daughter has more symptoms of Leukemia than the daughter who HAD Leukemia!!!!!

Her ped blames them on a virus. If there is no obvious infections.

So did the doctor run a complete blood count. If there is an infection, there will usually be an abnormal count of some sort. White blood cells fight infections, parasites and even are involved in allergies.
Depending on the type of infection, a different type of WBC will usally be too high or too low.
Some of the symptoms you discribe could be indicative of a blood disorder, frequent infections, brusing, and anemia, but it could also be a sign of a few congentital conditions that cause vitamin deficiencies in young infants, like Celiak disease.
This disease is an "allergy" to gluten in wheat based products that destroy the hair-like structires in the intestines that absorb nutrients from food. Some sypmtoms are:
Anemia due to lack of iron and vitamin B-12 (required for the production of hemoglobin)
Easy brusing due to lack of Vitamin K - required for proper clotting
Weight Loss due to lack of caloric intake
Water retention due to the lack of protein in the blood which allows fluid (plasma) to leak from blood vessels. Following gravity, this often results in swollen ankles.
Failure to thrive as vitamins are needed for proper growth and functioning of bones, muscles, organs and nerve cells.
I don't mean to suggest that this is what your daughter has, but without a complete blood count and really a full blood panel, it is best not to leap to a diagnosis of Leukemia. In any event, excessive mysterious bruising is ALWAYS a sign to go to the doctor to look at the blood.
Let us know how it goes, and I wish you luck.

The dr ordered a cbc on her to check her iron and other things. She wasn't sick but the cbc was norm they said. She had it done in sep 05 and her iron was low then it was only at 10.2, and he kind of concidered that norm because he said it was norm then. Which I know the iron should be at atleast 11.2 or higher.
