View Full Version : Doctor ordered "CT of Chest with Contrast" - what will that show?

I've been having a pain in my chest - left side, top of breast. It radiates through to my back, and even to my side/armpit.

The doctor is sending me for a CT of my chest. I'm wondering what exactly he is looking for, or what this test will show ????

I thought maybe he'd be looking for a blood clot in the lung (ex smoker, on the pill, etc).... but he said no. The only thing he mentioned was "blood vessels".

My test is in a few hours, if anyone can provide info (and perhaps make me a bit less nervous), I'd really appreciate it. I had an abdominal CT years ago when I had appendicitis, so I guess I shouldn't be too worried about the actual test.

Thanks so much!

Routine stuff. He's simply exploring. You'll be fine.
