Red blotches around my nose that won't go away.It looks like i've been excessively blowing my nose for days. The weather here had been insane lately with cold fronts some nights and then hot humid days so I think the hot, cold, hot, cold is messing up my skin's balance or something. They're rough red patchs on my face and I can't get rid of it.Can someone reccomend something to clear them up?

Hi greenfairy,

Are the patches dry red patches??? If so I would use a really good moisterizer every day. I use Purpose redness reducing moisterizer with spf 30. I live in New England so the winter weather takes a toll on my skin as well. Also you may want to try a mild scrub if in fact the patches are from dry skin. You can gently exfoliate your face just dont scrub it hard. As always make sure you are drinking 8 glasses of water a day that will help keep your skin cells moist.

What do you use for a daily cleanser?? A few months ago I started using cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and it does leave skin soft.

You may want to do a search on the word, "rosacea." If the description fits, you might need medical treatment to keep it from getting worse.

I do use moisturizer and drink a lot of water. It is starting to get better as far as it's not dry and rough anymore but the skin is still red  Looks like scar tissue now.I stopped using exfoliating cleansing clothes which I think was what caused it actually.Maybe from being too rough because I was sick of the white heads there.I looked up rosacea and I don't think I have it cause it didn't itch and wasn't painful. Thanks for the replies guys.

My mom has rosacea and it hurts, so I guess it probably isn't what you have! Do you actually blow your nose a lot? Whenever I get allergies it happens to me, and I just have to find some really thick cream to put on it. My regular moisturizer was good for the rest of my face but didn't fix the problem, so I bought some Palmer's Shea Butter.. I got a mini pot of it for like $1 at Walmart. It is awesome stuff! I've even used it as lip balm and it's great and cheap.

Try aloe vera gel. It soothes all kinds of red irritated skin issues. I use it to treat my rosacea.

Thanks for tip.The girl at wal-greens suggested I get shea butter but I was afraid of it clogging plores even more and making it worse but I may try it anyway.I do blow my nose a lot.Like ten times a day but I've always been like that and didn't have this.It is still dry and red.I'll try the aloe too. Thanks! Anymore suggestions are welcome still.

I would just use the shea butter only on that one area if you are worried about it clogging pores. I break out mildly every now and then, but I never break out from the shea butter if it's just a dry, red area! I just wouldn't put it all over your face or anything!

You may be having a reaction to your makeup or mositurizer. Try one of the cortizone ointments for a few days.
