Just got a packet from RE on what I need to get done to prepare for my first Clomid with IUI. A lot! One of the prescriptions is for Prometrium. What is it for?

I don't understand then why I being prescribed to take Prometrium after the IUI... Has anyone done it this way - Clomid, then Ovidrel to trigger O, then IUI, then Prometrium inserts?

I was just prescribed prometrium tonight, and it is not to make AF come, it actually prolongs it from coming. It is a progesterone supplement. I will find out on the 7th if I am pregnant and my progesterone bloodwork just came back at only a 13.5 (where in the past months it was a 22.5 or 26.5) so this is a supplement to help keep my progesterone up which is necessary to sustain a pregnancy. My prometrium is an oral tablet that is taken at night before I go to bed.

I hope that helps. They probably gave it to you to help boost progesterone if necessary:)

{removed} It is a oral form of progesterone. It can be used to to help sustain a pregnancy if your body is not producing enough, but it is also to help regulate AF. In my case my cycles were very irregular and I did an IUI. After it was determined I was not pregnant my OB gave me prometrium to take to make AF arrive so I wouldn't wait 60 plus days for her to arrive on her own. You will be fine as long as you follow doctors orders as to how to take the med.
