I have just been diagnosed with polycythemia vera. I am only 22 years old. My doctor started out with drawing blood once a week, but unfortunatley that didn't work. so now he wants to do injections of interferon. Apparently this drug causes serious depression, so bad that people have committed suicide on it. So I don't know what to do????? I hope anybody out there that can relate or that has this desease can give me any helpful advice maybe you have tried something that worked and didn't have such serious side affects. or even anybody with any kind of advice would be appreciated.
thank you. God bless

Hi just read your post. I just thought I would pass on the little bit of info I found out about this disease for my brother who has had it for nearly 15 years. Apparently green tea as well as garlic are supposed to be very beneficial, people who suffer this disease say that after drinking green tea for some time, they have actually been able to reduce their medication, with the advice of a doctor ofcourse. My brother used to have his blood taken off for a few years, that has stopped now, and he is on tablets, I don't remember him saying anything about injections!
Sorry I haven't been much help, but I just thought I would pass on the Green tea information to you.
Best of luck.
