apriltones 02-24-2006, 10:56 AM si this linked to fibro? anyone else have one? i have quiick hair growth, sometimes late periods, thanks x oh and acne on chin worse before period Sponsor bluelakelady 02-24-2006, 01:18 PM hi april, not to my knowledge. may i suggest you have a blood test and have your hormone levels checked. i noticed the change in hair growth when i entered menopause. now that i am post meno i have to do a bit of plucking here and there. i have soft downy hair that grows on my cheeks. i don't touch that. hair falling out is associated with fibro. aren't our bodies bizarre? peace, bluelakelady ukiahvalleymom 02-25-2006, 11:32 AM Apriltons, YES, Hormone imbalance can be a contributer to symptoms of thin skin, hair loss, hair growth in wrong places, irregular periods, painful periods, thyroid problems, adrenal dysfunction and more in the FMS and CFS communities. Part of my treatment was extensive lab work done at the FMS & Fatigue Center and then natural hormones and supplements. It's working, I'm doing much better, my periods are not as irregular, my skin is no longer thin, my hair is staying on my head more (hee-hee.) Too make a long story short... the good new is the symptoms have subsided with my regime of treatment. wish you the best, uvm P.S. Are there any Endocrinologists where you live? 2totsnfibro 02-25-2006, 12:07 PM Hi there, My miserable period since my fibro went bad tells me yes! I figure fibro messes with every other thing in the body, why not the hormones? I didn't have a period for almost four years between being pregnant and breast feeding. But when I weaned my girl I started having a miserable heavy painful period every three weeks. Cramping bad enough to puke. So I would have one week out of every three that I wasn't having PMS or a pseudo miscarraige. Definitely get it checked out. Suzanne Somers has a book out about biospecific hormones that you get from an endo. It supposedly reverses the aging process. Hope you get to feeling better. 2tots My doctor made me have uterine and cervical biopsies because I had an abnormal pap. Turned out just to be an inflamed cervix, no known origin, antibiotics applied liberally. So now I will be taking BC pills I don't need to try to regulate my whacked out period. I wanted Seasonal which makes you have four periods a year. But they say you spot all the time so it wouldn't help. Glojer 02-26-2006, 11:30 AM Yes blue, don't you just love that one or two extra little hairs that show up under your chin after menopause! Tweezer Time! Apriltones the symptoms you described can also be PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which is a harmone imbalance. Oh, by the way I just remembered! I saw a pamphlet at the dermatologist office the other day about a cream you can put on to remove unwanted hair. It is suppose to be better than the OTC things and of course for people who can't use the OTC stuff. The dermie said they sell it at her office for 40 dollars a tube. Don't know how big the tube is. Glojer apriltones 03-03-2006, 10:06 AM so there is natural hormones and supplements to take for ths if its true? i live in uk, not sure how to see a endo? thanks for replies. i have had hormone tests out 2 yrs ago and were normal, i had fibro thrn too x |
