Hi, I have just found out that I have high cholesterol and I am taking levoxyl for my hypothyroid. I was just wondering what medicine you people are taking if you are hypo. I know that there are some that may interfere with an underactive thyroid. My HDL is 59 and my LDL is 177. The doctor wanted me to come in and try medicine, but I would like to try lowering it on my own, if I can. Would love to hear what is good and if you are having any side affects. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

You need to look up high cholesterol /and hypothyroid together. Hypothyroid can and is a cause of high cholesterol. You should give the thyroid medicine a chance to work first. You might want to try Armour for your thyroid , it has both T3 and T4. You doctor probably won't agree with the armour... because they are under the mistaken impression that T4 changes to T3 the active part of the thyroid hormone..As a bio-chemist once told me , he said he is certain that T4 cannot read and doesn't always know that it is supposed to change to T3.
