My 19 year daughter has red acne scars all over her back. She likes to wear halter tops in the warm months, but can't because of all the scarring on her back. She is now taking antibiotics for the acne and hopes that her back will clear up. The dermatologist said that it will take a year for her red marks to disappear. Does anyone know of a product that may lighten them up some?
Thank you for any suggestions!

Hi Belle-
Mederma is wonderful for scars of all kinds. Most pharmacies carry it or Walmart/ Target. It runs about $23.00 for a tube and needs to be applied to scarring 3-4 times daily. Takes a couple of months to see difference but worth the wait. Hope this helps.

Depends on the type of scars: are they just discolorations or dented/pitted scars? If they're just discolorations, they will definitely fade and go away in about 6 months. To speed it up and prvent further breakouts, St. Ive's Medicated Scrub is a great product. She can use it every other day in the shower: massage it in rubbing the skin lightly, and leave it on for a minute or two, then rinse. For pitted scars, she will probably need some resurfacing product from a dermatologist.

A self-tanner might minimize their appearance in the meantime.

Yes, the scars are just red marks all over her back. I will suggest to her the St Ives scrub and the self tanner. Thank you for your great ideas :)
