I work in nursing 4 pm to 12 am, 5 days a week. I go home and stay up from 12 AM to about 6 Am or 7 AM and then go to sleep and wake up around 2:30 PM... get ready for work and go in. I love sleeping during the day, I absolutely HATE the day time and love when its dark out so I love my job and the way my schedule is. All my life Ive been a stay up all night / sleep all day person so its not like I have to get used to it or anything.

However.... Ive never seen this before.

My eyes are CONSTANTLY blood shot.... CONSTANT. I dont use the tv AT ALL.. I dont use the computer that much, I dont even read a lot. I come home and just chill out for hours on end. Silently by myself or on the phone with friends. I get at LEAST 8 hours of sleep every night if not more.

My eyes never give me ANY problems, no itching etc... just always blood shot.

What could be going on?

I have the same symptom, and have had it for many years. For me, it's at least partly due to dry-eye syndrome. I imagine the air in a hospital is very dry. I use Refresh eye drops, but there are others too. I recommend the individual ampules designed for single-use; they don't have preservatives, and so don't bring another issue. I think all brands offer these.
Of course, you should see a doctor, preferably an ophthalmologist. There could be some hospital-type germ at work too.

Take care!

I have really dry eyes too, and I use something called Nature's Tears. It's actually an eye mist, and it doesn't contain any preservatives, etc. so it won't irritate your eye further. Plus, what I really like (in addition to it working!) is that its really convenient to use and carry. I keep one in my purse, car and by my computer and spray my eyes whenever I think of it. Hope this helps!
