Ok, so i always had a lot of anxiety, issue. That i can accept (I guess). However, a couple of months ago, my stomach started to get worse. I always had minor stomach issues in the past, nausea, etc, but now it happens a lot more and is quite constant. I hate it. I asked my Dr. about it and he chalked it up to anxiety.

But - i need some relief! Help!!

Any suggestions?

I tried once taking Ginger pills, however, this was around the same time i was having dizzy spells/brain fog, etc, and i stopped as i wasn't sure if it was adding to this cause.....

read up about GERD and acid reflux on the net, these often go with anxiety, the new antiulcer meds sometimes are prescribed

Both my brother and mother have stomach issues "nervous stomach" including mostly diarrhea. They were started on very small doses of Klonopin It was originally an ati-seizure medication, so therfor helps as an anti-spasmotic
Their problems went away almost immediatly

You may have gastritis which is something I wound up with because I get extreme anxiety attacks that last for weeks sometimes (depending on circumstances in my life). I've had nausea and stomach pain and was put on Prilosec which helps, however, it's very hard to stop once you start because your stomach acid rebounds when you try to get off it. I'm now weaning myself off with the help of Zantac, which I would recommend over Prilosec because it's not a proton-pump inhibitor, it just neutralizes stomach acid. You can take up to 600 mg of that a day. I finally had an endoscopic exam after two months of feeling bloating, pain and nausea, and they found quite a bit of inflammation in the upper third of my stomach around the esophagus. So excess acid produced during anxiety can inflame your stomach. I've been on the Prilosec for 6 weeks, so with the help of Zantac, I hope to get off anti-acids in a few more weeks as it takes a couple of months for it to heal up.

Interesting. I use Zantac too, but i was hoping for more releif.

So, you are hoping to get off anti-acids? Such as zantac?

Hello!
I completely relate to your situation, as I was hospitalized several years ago,
due to stomach issues from having anxiety attacks. I got to the point where I
was having such serious panic attacks that I couldn't keep food down for over
a month..after loosing fourty pounds in that month, I was finally taken seriously
by a wonderful doctor that I was recommended to by an ER doc. I am a pretty
petite women as is, and was surprised that most Er doctors were chalking it off
as just a minor stomache..most of them also thought that I had an eating disorder
it was absolutely crazy!!! It had gotten so out of hand, that I was admitted into
the hospital..I was in a hospital bed for about five months straight and in and out
for over a year...my system was so screwed up. My doctor said that I was very
close to death. I was very fortunate to finally find a doctor who was willing to
listen..he saved my life!!! I hope that you can get to the source of your problem
and not have to go through the hell that I went through. anxiety attacks are a very
serious issue, especially if there isn't anyone or anything to help you get through
them. I thought everthing was just in my head..that is until I almost died!!! I wish
anyone out there who is going through this kind of thing the best of luck and my
prayers are with you!!!

I suffer terribly with my stomach, due to anxiety.
I get terrible bloating, diarrhea and my stomach feels sore because i seem to be constantly tensing my stomach muscles. Its awful, ive had loads of tests done and all i get told is that its irritable bowel syndrome/nervous stomach.
Im due to go back to see my doctor AGAIN on wednesday because its driving me totally mad, and i can only sleep with a hot water bottle on my stomach and i seem to be constanly uncomfortable.
The last time I went to the doctors, he actually put on my notes 'patient convinced she has stomach cancer' - anxiety sufferer.
You are not alone
