View Full Version : AF hardly there...3rd day u/s affected?

Okay, so my 3rd cycle day (for IVF) is scheduled for tomorrow and I have been just basically spotting since Sunday, which was late for me.

Since AF for me has been kind of non-existent lately, I needed Provera to get it going a couple of cycles ago. But since then, it has been very light when it comes. Sorry for TMI, but I was wondering if I'm only a tad more than spotting, can they still get the numbers that they need, or whatever it is that they look for on the 3rd day...that's suppose to be with a "full flow?"

I haven't been getting a full flow and don't usually go until the 3rd day. Even though I told them that, they made an appointment for me tomorrow. I didn't want to wait for a "full flow" b/c I was nervous that a "full flow" would never come and I would miss my chance to even start this month!! Sorry if this is long...can anyone shed light on this topic? I will be devastated if they say I should wait for my next cycle.

I could be wrong on this, but I don't think the flow matters. I think what they are looking for on day 3 are any leftover follicles or cysts from the previous month(s) before they start you on any medication. This reply is probably too late, but don't worry about anything. I wish my flow had been lighter when I went for these things...it's a little embarrasing when the u/s tech says "Wow, you're really having a doozer, aren't you". I would say you will be fine and they will be able to get what they need regardless of flow.

Good Luck!

Well it turns out that everything went well. My flow was actually a little heavier today, so the doc said that I could even wait until tomorrow to start BCP. I wanted to start today, but then I thought that might slow it down and the more that's shed, the better right?

I'm not happy with my black & blue marks on BOTH arms though! My vein collapsed in one arm and the other has been sore all day. It seems whenever I have given blood so far, I bruise. And they said when I'm on the Follistim, I'll have to come in every day...not looking forward to that! I'll look so beat up! :p

It is all worth it in the end though.
