comeandrelax 02-28-2006, 06:34 PM i had 2 anxiety attacks in 2 days....worse ones ive ever had and now 5 months later i still feel lightheaded and out of it almost always. no other symptoms...just all in my head. ive been tested for everything under the moon. was told might be inner ear related but they say that to anyone who feels dizzy or says dizzy. anyone else been told inner ear infection??
i know that if i take a low dose xanax i feel better until the pill wears off. i also go through sputs of thinking i have the worst disease in the world and/or im going to die or something. i know deep down its not the case. ive suffered from anxiety for a long time now but its never been constant. its like i had an attack and it never really went away
anyone feel like this?
SRMom 02-28-2006, 07:21 PM Hey comeandrelax...yes, I think most of us can say this is how we feel with anxiety. Your lightheadedness could be derealization or maybe you are not breathing properly because you are anxious. I used to hope it was just my inner ear, but alas, my ears always were fine at the doctor. Xanax makes me feel better too, but if you need it too often, you might want to consider other medication options. Hope you feel better soon :)
comeandrelax 02-28-2006, 07:26 PM hey.
wow i was suprised when you said you wished it was inner ear cause if i could wish anything in the world right now it would be that its not inner ear. all my docs look at my ears and say they are fine but i had this test done called an eng...and it showed i might have something going on with them. what that means exactly i don't know.
im not startimng to learn more about the fight or flight responce stuff and how it is possible to being in a state of panic.
SRMom 02-28-2006, 08:07 PM I guess I meant I wish it was just an ear infection that could be easily cleared up with antibiotics and would not come back without a reason, like a cold. Panic seems to have no reason...just pops up out of nowhere. It's just maddening.
Do you have a lot more stress in your life right now...more than usual? When I have had episodes of panic or a constant state of anxiety, I look back and I realize something very stressful had been going on. Maybe work or relationship troubles. I try to stay organized and not overload myself with too much work. I also try to limit contact with people that are toxic. You can't avoid all the bad things, but if you can limit problems, your anxiety will be lessened.
dbirchum 03-01-2006, 09:25 AM Hi comeandrelax.....i know what you are going through. I had something happen back in November and it never really went away. I feel like it most times. At first, my Dr. thought it was immediately innear ear related. And, like SRMom, i was "hoping" it would be innear eat related as it meant something 'physical' was going on, and hopefully it could be address.
Having to deal with the fact that "anxiety" might be the root of it all, could be just too much to deal with (knowing that it is your head/thoughts, etc, that is causing me to feel this way...)
comeandrelax 03-01-2006, 02:11 PM im just the opposite. im hoping its not inner ear realted. the good thing would be its something physical and maybe you can address it. but they way the address inner ear problems is time.....theres nothing they can really do excpet tell you to wait it out. were talking months and months.
my main question is does anyone that has anxiety disorders feel lightheaded and dizzy almost all day everyday?
stillhopefull 03-01-2006, 11:44 PM yup.. that is very possible with anxiety. That is EXACTLY how I was for a good 4 months. Then of course I thought for sure I was dying,, Went to doc after doc, Its just anxiety!! For me the only thing that has helped is ATIVAN.
Sorry you are dealing with this, if you ever need to chat I'm here.

cmsaint 03-02-2006, 01:23 PM Im lightheaded 24/7  and all my Dr.s blame it on anxiety.
comeandrelax 03-02-2006, 10:07 PM stillhopefull
you felt dizzy and lightheaded for 4 months? was it like a wozzy in your head type dizzy? for me its like if i move my head fast or do something too much ill get woozy in my head. im canstatly thinking about it. how long after the meds did you feel better? i started klonopin last night
stillhopefull 03-02-2006, 11:57 PM I felt extremley woozy in my head!! At times my head felt heavy, and it was hard to concentrate!! When I walked I felt as if I was going to fall over, I'd stay on the couch for as long as I could until I absolutely HAD to move. I was SOOOOOO afraid, And that Is ALL I thought about from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed!! It was horrible, but after I took the pills for 2 or three days, three times a day, I started feeling ALOT better!!
So hang in there, and if you need to chat, remember I'm here..

comeandrelax 03-03-2006, 12:40 PM what pills did you take? that sounds just like me!
comeandrelax 03-03-2006, 12:53 PM oh nevermind....i looked it up. avatin is basically the same thing as cloezepam which is what im taking. 2 times a day
comeandrelax 03-03-2006, 06:14 PM how strong were the doses? im taking klonopin .5mgs 2 times a day? does that sound ok?
stillhopefull 03-04-2006, 01:00 PM Yea that sounds right , I'm on .25 three times a day. On rough days I take .5 in the morning, then my .25 the other two times.
I've been felling exactly like you decribed, dizzy 24 hours a day. I was told it was inner ear and that Ativan helped. So I'm taking it everyday, which I was told is not good for you, and it seems that it does not cure it it only masks the problem.
Which I really knew beaucause I am also a very anxious person.
comeandrelax 03-04-2006, 09:06 PM so you have an inner ear problem and your taking it cause it makes you feel better? on one hand thats good cause your not feeling as bad but if you have an inner ear problem they usually only give you very small doses of that stuff. i would go get your inner ears checked not by a regular doc but one like a neurologist. they can do tests to prove inner ear or not. i was tested for it and it showed a slight inner ear problem and im being told to do excersises to basically make myself dizzy so i learn to compensate for it until it heals. other wise you may go a long time being dizzy
Yes I have been cheecked both by a neurologist and ear doctor. Whent through the excercices, which in my case helped a little.
I have had labyrithitis which left a scar and seems like I'll always be dizzy.
I take half of the 1 mg in the morning and half in the afternoon to stop the motion, it's the only thing that works, I've tried everything else. Which it was different. Good luck
comeandrelax 03-06-2006, 10:06 PM they did a study and are now showing that SSRIs are very effective for inner ear infections if your suffering long term. how long have you had it? there have been many people that got treated for anxiety disorders and got better faster cause anxiety is a huge thing that can hinder recovery.
glamourgal 03-07-2006, 04:11 PM My ears have been bothering me too. They feel somewhat stopped up. I had a bad ear infection a few years ago and they have never been the same since. I wonder if this could be contributing to my anxiety. I also need my wisdom teeth out, so this could also be adding to the problem.
comeandrelax 03-07-2006, 04:45 PM i actually just got my wisdom teeth out and all the fullness and jaw pain and ear pain i had is completly gone im still left with the dizziness lightheaded spacey feeling thinking either inner ear or anxiety disorder. im thinking more anxiety disorder
bundleonerves 03-08-2006, 02:08 PM I have had GAD and Panic for about 15 years, I just recently about a year ago started having the dizzy light headed feelings. It drives me crazy. I take 1mg klonopin in morning and 1mg in the afternoon. plus 100 mg of zoloft a day. I also discovered that hyperthyroid disorder can cause anxiety problems so if you havn't done so get your thyroids checked......
I've tried about 6 differents types of antidepressant for my anxiety, but cannot tolarate the side effects, been on them for periods of 6 months and more, had to stop, that's why I went the Ativan route.
guitarz 03-09-2006, 12:19 AM Hi , I have experienced cronic diziness for many years ..many bad experiences with doctors in the past and hospitilization for other issues however, my prolonged dizziness/lightheadedness is infact caused by anxiety and panic disorder. I am taking .25 of Clonazapan (spelling???) 4 times a day and the diziness is gone...I experienced this for about 7 years before i did anything about it...glad i did..been on the pills for about 6 months..no side effects, no feelings of addiction and wanting more..so it seems to work for me
Had all the tests done...saw a neurologist too...but it was all anxiety based! Funny when you realize anxiety can effect so many people in so many differenet ways
good luck to you!
Well Guitarz, I maybe should split my doses like you do so that the effects last all day long, because around 3 in the afternoon the dizyness is back.
Just to add when I was on anti depressant, it did not take any of this dizyness away.
Godd luck to you to.
