I have been taking Omega 3 fish oil for 6 months. It is known to have some anti-depressant benefits in very high dosages. I take 3000mg. a day (which is 10 300 mg. pills). More importantly, the fish oil is good for your general health- benefits cardiovascular functioning. There is no harm in using it. However, I think there are natural supplements that may have more of an effect at boosting your spirits. 5-htp (pre-cursor to 5-htp), L-glutamate (pre-cursor to Dopamine) or L-tyrosine (pre-cursor to Norepinephrine). It is usually good to have a full physical with all blood work (thyroid test, glucose levels, electrolytes) to first rule out any physical illness.

An interesting aside, I have tried lots of natural supplements and a few AD's with varied success, but am currently finding interesting results with homeopathy. However, it is important to see a classical homeopathic doctor as I have.

however the jury is still out.

hope this was of any help
