I was just wondering around how long did it take to get all your teeth pulled for your dentures? I have 9 on top and 6 on the bottom that they are pulling?

I had 8 on top and 2 on the bottom taken out this morning well 13 including my 3 wisdom teeth it took about an hour he gave me alot of novacaine and laughing gas all i can say is hopefully he gives you some pretty good pain meds because your mouth is very sore afterwords and its weird trying to swallow and talk guess it takes awhile to get used to

Thanks! I had two teeth that were badly infected and they gave me vicodin for pain relief, so I'm sure for all the teeth they are pulling they will give me that again. They are only pulling one wisdom tooth up top, the bottom ones they are leaving in. I don't know if I'm more concerned with getting the wisdom tooth pulled (its partial boney, attached in the bone) but I also heard the eye teeth can be tough since the roots go up real far and its close to the sinuses.

I had 27 pulled all at one time under IV sedation...I didn't feel anything, or remember anything about it..

yeah the vicodin has been helping me out alot when you take it right away before the pain gets severe it works even better I could feel alot of puling and tugging with the eye tooth felt like my cheeck was being taken out too. as for the wisdom tooth i had my first one pulled in the summer time that was partially boney all he gave me was novciane and it took 30 40 seconds to come out didnt feel any pain at all after he took it out just a little sore and took a little longer to heal because of the bone loss but the bone grows back

I'm use to the tugging and pulling part. I had my old dentist take out a back tooth and its roots were wrapped around my wisdom tooth, he actually put his knee on my chest to get leverage to pull, I had one more like that but he said he didn't want to BREAK MY JAW, so he sent me to an oral surgeon, funny but that one came out with no problems and it only took seconds!

I had all 32 pulled at once and waited 3 months for my gums to heal before being fitted with dentures. Most people go the immediate denture route though. For me waiting and then being fitted proved the more cost effective and better option.

My husband had to wait a year, yes I agree it is cost effective, but Im not willing to go without teeth for a year. I guess this depends on ones own comfort level.

Good morning Hope4All....
I have the same feelings about it as you!! No matter the cost - I, personally, could not face the idea of having to go ANY amount of time without teeth!! And it is definitely each to his or her own opinion.. It is more expensive to do it this way. When I am completely healed I will be fitted for the permanents and my immediates will just be a back-up. It's now been 2 months since my teeth were pulled. My mouth has changed radically...my immediates are sooo loose that they will not hold in place without an adhesive, but that's okay..I can deal with that..I am suppose to have a soft reline this week that should make them fit better...It's hard enough just adjusting to having no teeth...I don't like being without them at night...it's the last thing I do before going to bed, and the first thing I do upon waking is to put them back in. My hat goes off to anyone who has to go the waiting route...I know it's not easy. The extra cost for the immediates is a burden, but it was the only option for me..at whatever the cost.

Hi blueheartlady,

I will get my first set of immediates and I will get my permanent ones after 6 months. I almost went with the cheaper denture until I found out that the teeth you are fitted with are the ONLY teeth, they are your permanent teeth. I figured with how your gums change I needed the more expensive ones.

I'm so happy your having a pretty easy time with yours, my husband uses adhesive and it doesn't bother him to use it.
