hi midblue, I haven't personally used it, but know of others who have, plus discussed it with my dermatologist as a possible option for me. Yes it is effective.

The Obagi System was developed by a physician. It is a kit system that has a patented time release blue base(exlcusive to Obagi) that is mixed w/17% Trichloric Acid (TCA). The difference is the blue base, which allows the peel to remain on the skin longer as it is a slow time process. The blue base also allows the ability to see the product and ensure it is applied evenly. Obagi Peels can be provided by dermatologists or licensed estheticians; all quite pricey. It can also be ordered more economically online, just type Obagi Peel System into Google and it will produce a variety of sources; kit usually ranges around $100 with the Trichloric Acid having to be ordered separately. Acid peels can be purchased directly online through MakeupArtistsChoice and Platinum Skin Care. Both sites have excellent information to learn which peel is right for you, risks, what to expect, and "how to" information. Now, there are huge precautions with doing home peels so do your homework with it before attempting it. There are many websites online that discuss the safety precautions and specific instructions; instructions will come with the kit as well, but real all sources that you can. Also, a 17% TCA peel is a moderate level peel that will require "downtime" to recover; 7-14 days. The blue dye in the peel will leave a blue color in your skin for about a week. You MUST pre-condition your skin with lower level peels BEFORE advancing to a 17%level; using Glycolic Acid peels or Lactic Acid Peels several times before using a TCA level peel. And, finally, (and I have no idea regarding your skin tone) olive+ tone skin should really only have professionally administered peels to avoid risks of calico tone skin afterwards.

I did all the prep and then I had the actual peel done professionally. It was an absolute waste of every single dollar. It didn't do ONE good thing for my skin.
