It must be out of hope! I simply can not understand why those who have been diagnosed with Hepatitis C would do these things....One: have a liver biopsy on an organ that is already struggling? And there can be complications even with a biopsy. There is No reason for it when there is NO cure anyway. It's all about more money. Two: How can anyone justify the poisons of treatment known today that are NOT a cure? The treatment is poison to the body as it is to the virus. But why weaken the rest of your body? With all the foriegn substance from treatment, of course your immune system will become confused which leads to an autoimmune disorder, cytomegaloVirus very common, often associated with other disorders like HIV and HCV. There are so many people who have had Hepatitis C for more than 30 years and they are much better off than those who take treatment. Me, I am 60 years old, and I know another lady 67 years old with Hep C and still living a normal life. Fatigue being the only monster. But even that is better than being ill. You can live a good life if you take care of your body, get your rest (very important) , and take herbs as I have done for more than 40 years. But you can NEVER consume alcohole, and drugs, not even aspirens unless necessary. NO FORIEGN SUBSTANCES. Why do you put yourself through the torment. THERE IS NO CURE ONLY HOPE THAT MAKES YOU SICK. But this is just my opinion. I feel the same way about chemotherapy for cancer. My mother at 60 diagnose with cancer near her lungs. She refused treatment of any kind, and she went on with her life as if she did not have cancer. She died at 78 and it was only the last six months of her life she felt the effects of the cancer and that was after she had a fall down the doctors stairs. If she had taken Chemotherapy when she was 60, I am quite sure she would have died much earlier. It's all poison.

The cure rate for geneotype 2and 3 is 85%....for geno 1 and 4 its 55%..only half of people on interferon get bad side effects.....those are the facts.

You're "facts" are overstated. First, no one knows whether interferon is a cure. Second, there have been no side effect studies in the real world. For that matter, community studies (studies that are just random normal folks in the community clinic versus hand picked study subjects) do not rise to those statistics on their best day.
welcome to the board.

Just because people don't get bad sides during treatment does not mean some secondary condition will not arise from the Tx. Months after treatment ends or maybe years on down the road.

I was on TX for a year and have been undetectable since the 2nd month of treatment, all the side effects I had are gone now.I may be wrong but in my eyes TX cured me..No more virus in my body and my DR says that I dont have to mention to any new dr's that I even had Hepatitis C,it will be as if I never had it at all.
So for me,TX "cured" me and I am happy about that

There is NO long term cure proven. Most who think they are cured, the monster re-appears sooner or later. Ask any research doctor

True, but the fact is they still have Hepatitis C. There is no long term cure known at this time. Even the research doctors will tell you, sooner or later it is most likely show it's face again.

Maybe you never really had Hep C. There is so much still unknown. Do you know there is NOT an actual test to diagnose Hep C? Only a series of test and they presume you have Hep C. On there presumtion one treats and doctors make alot of money from your suffering. Call any Reseach Foundation like UCLA Research or Scripps Research, and there is not a doctor there that will tell you there is a cure for Hep C. I simply do not want people to fool themselves. Tell me you are cured 2 or 3 years from now. If you are cured, I doubt it is the treatment. More likely God chose you to be well.

The only thing I can say is Good Luck!! I would inform all doctor's in the future that you "had" Hep C.I've been undetectable before and relapsed so don't get too happy about being cured, the dragon nevers leaves it hides in different parts of our body. Undetectable just means there are not enough copies in your blood to detect, not that it is completely gone. For your doctor to tell you not to include Hep C in future medical problems tells me you need a new doctor.

Yes I do believe I had Hep C & I never said that there was a cure, what I meant was that TX was a cure FOR ME,it is in MY opinion as I have remained undetectable for so long.I am aware that there isnt enough information out there to make such assumptions.I am just putting in my opinion about TX and what it had done for me

Also, even though I know there is no definite cure I would still like to consider that TX 'cured' me.I was diagnosed about 3 yrs ago when I was just 21 & was told that because of my viral load & genotype which was 1a,that I had a low chance of responding to treatment & that I was mostly likely going to live w/ this for the rest of my life.
Now imagine at just 21 youre on this horrible treatment for this disease & you have to stay home alot & miss out on the fun things you do at 21 b/c youre too sick from TX & too ashamed to tell anyone you have this disease b/c of the horrible stigma it has.I basically had to live a lie & put on a happy face so noone knew the truth.I lived in shame for so long & now that I am undetectable & healthy,I am going to consider myself cured & I am going to try and forget the past 3 horrible yrs-for at least right now.

Thanks Budro for confirming what I have been trying to get across to people. There are so many with high hope, they simply do not want to believe fact. I have some wonderful doctors who are well informed on Hep C research and they will not lie to you. In a heart beat they will tell you not to give up, but don't think you are cured of Hep C with current treatments. Just like Cancer, they will say wait five to ten years before you say you are cured. This monster virus hides itself, but only for a time.

It is poison but I am responding to pegasus and copegus and 10 years ago I did not respond to interferon and had to stop. My only hope in this treatment is to get the bandit out of my system so I don't have to worry about possibly infecting others. I'm going to die one way or the other but I don't want to be responsible for someone else being sick. Just the way I look at it I suppose. Dale
