Hi last week my pediatrician said my daughter had an abnormal xray . It showed she had scarring in L5 and I believe she mentioned calcium build up? I was so surprised when she said this that it was hard to pay attention I want to say she mentioned possible scoliosis, I think. At any rate she's schedualed for a cat scan in a week but what problems could stem from any or all of these possible things? I know I am not to sure and evasive about her findings but until next week I wont really know whats going on and Im really worried about whats going on..Please help me if you can thanks..

Nwhat,
I really can't give you any advice on what the findings might be. As the mother of a daughter with spine\al problems I did seek a pediatric orthopaedist. Our dr has a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics with an emphasis on scoliosis/spinal problems. From the research I have done and from what the pediatric orthos have told me, the pediatric patient is different from an adult. So if you need to go further with your child's problem find a good ped ortho. Best wishes to you. It's really hard to have a child with spinal problems. cas

Hi thank you so much for the response. I actually got a copy of her xray and it stated she had sclerosis of L5 and mild sclerosis in the region of the pars interarticularis. I hope this may help with someone giving me a little more detailed information as to what the opinion might be. Im so sorry to hear your child has spinal problems it must be very hard and worrisom. I feel very stressed out that there may be something bad going on but I try to keep optamistic until the CT. The not knowing and speculating is the hardest but I will leave it in the hands of God. Good luck with your little one. If anyone has any input PLEASE share...Thanks
