HI
My son was just diagnosed with S.A.D. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with this. He also has a polymorphisim in his CF gene but the doctor told me they were two different issues. He had a pnuemocacal vaccine which did not work and now they want to give him another one before they start him on IVIG. Do you think it is worth getting another vaccine or should I start the IV right away. Thanks.

Hi Matt's Mom ... I'm sure it is difficult to wait when you have a sick child, but the tests are important so drs can fully understand your sons's immune system. Once he start's the ivig you can't go back and do these tests as he will be receiving antibodies in the infusions. Has your son be sick for long? I have been on ivig for about 2 and a half years. It does make a tremendous difference so I hope things proceed quickly for your son.

Barb,
HI Thank you so much for responding. I am taking him today for the shot. You are right about waiting. It is so difficult sometimes. You want it fixed yesterday. He has been sick since he was six moths old and he is now seven. My husband and I are exhausted but I know we must be strong for Matt. Thanks for your support.
