My doctor says that is the next step for me in treating my RA. I was wondering what one most people on? What are the side effects? I looked them up on the internet for side effect but some times they just add somethings to cover the drug companys. What is the most common side effects. I am on NSAID, Methotrexate and Prednisone with no side effects so I hope it will be the same thing with this class of drugs.

Hi there, I am taking Humira injections along with Methotrexate. Rather than bore you with my story why don't you click on my log in name and all the things I have written about Humira should come up and hopefully help you in some small way. I chose Humira because the jab is only once every two weeks (I hate the jabs but they are worth it!). Best regards. Jane

Jane,
Hi, I am also on Humeria injections although because of the severity of my RA I have to take the injection weekly. I find the injection extremly uncomfortable, They burn unbelievably! Is there any advice you can give as to wear you are giving the injection that might be helpful. I also take 9 methotrexate pills weekly. My rheum is going to discuss a new drug which I have left a message on this board to see if anyone is familiar with, It is call
orancia, it is a monthy infusion with less side effects. It is made from Bristol Myers. Have you heard of it? I have tried using a cream called LMX5 that I apply one hour prior to my injection that does help a little with the buring but
not enough to really want to keep this up. I get some relief (better than without the drug but if there is another medication out there with better compliance than I want to know more about it. Thanks!!
Deb

Hi Deb, I know what you mean about the jab (I thought I was just being a baby) it is not very nice. My husband injects me in my arm, but I have heard that the tummy is probably the best place but I just can't face that at the moment. Every jab seems to be different, luckily I don't get any reaction from it afterwards no itchiness or swelling. I am off the jab and MTX at the moment as I have a chest infection but will be going back on them both as soon as the infection clears up. I haven't heard or Orencia so keep us posted if you get any news of it. Best regards. Jane

I think at my next doctor's visit in April, he is going to start me on Enbrel. How long before you saw improvement and are you on anything else besides the Enbrel?
