I have started researching about acupuncture and thinking to try it before my first IUI and may be during and after.
Has anyone successfully tried it or knows of somene who did? Is it really helpful? I am not so covienced it works, so I looking for some real success stories...
The two places I have called so far have different apporaches, one with herbs, another one without. Costs are $75 per weekly session plus $70/month for herbs; the other place is $95 per weekly session. Does it sounds about right?

I have heard it works, but I did it with three IUI treatments and I had no success. I quit it.

Hi,I have posted a thread about combining acupuncture and herbs with IVF which started last week, costs me £70 a week to combine acupuncture and herbs(in the uk) and I will find out in a few weeks if it does help,as I have had failed iui and Ivf tries in the past without the use of alternative treatment.I'm hoping it works for us this time.Good luck with your iui.

I tried acupuncture for infertility and didn't have success. I found out shortly after that our problems are male factor-related. My doctor did say that once a week wasn't enough. It should be 2-3 times a week leading up to ovulation.

I just read an article about this. I will give you the link, if I can. Here it is: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=52286
Anyway, there are some promising stats on there. I guess it doesn't work for everybody though, just like IVF or IUI doesn't work for everyone. But, I guess it's worth a try.
By the way, my issue is partly a male factor too. Has anyone read if it helps the men? In this article, it says it helps the whole process of the follies, so I can't see where it couldn't hurt, even if it's male factor. It would seem that good eggs could come from good "chi".
Anyway, Good luck to all!

Hi! Sorry if it didn't work. Try this:
Go to www.medicinenet.com and then search for acupuncture. Categories will come up. More than half way down the page there is a section called: Health Facts, Doctors Responses, and all other categories. The article is listed there. It's called: Infertility: The Ancient Art of Infertility Treatment.
Let me know if you found it. ;)

km7503, Thanks. I found it this time and sounds like I should bring in up to my doctor. Since we've been declined inf at one clinic out last hope is at boston ivf. They told us since our % of success is so low (not enough eggs for me and very low count & low activity for husband = what a combintion), they are bringing it to the board for a decision. They are our last chance. They'll let us know on 3/14 during our next visit. So, if they say "yes" to us, I'll mention it to them.

Well, I had my first session of acupuncture yesterday. I will have them twice a week for the first 3 weeks, and then continue at once a week. It did not feel bad at all. The acupancurist will be working in conjuction with my climid/IUI when I start it next month. hopefully it will help for the IUI to be more effective.
