Hi
I had my 2 to 3 week check up yesterday, all looked good, I actually improved on both eyes. I was 20/25 now 20/20 in the left eye, and was 20/60 in the right, now am 20/ 25 in that eye. My question is this: I still feel weird,,like its not all that crisp. Is that fine, or should I wonder? I think it must be normal until you eyes heal. Has anyone felt this like me?
Also, excited to share that I got down to the DMV and got a new drivers license with NO GLASSES required!! YAY! Thanks for your input.

I had mine done PRK in June 2005. I had really bad eyesight, couldnt see clearly past 6" in front of my face AND was starting to get bad with old age short sightedness too. My eyes seem to be pretty good (I forget the measurements) but the crispiness you mention varies on the available light...in twilight or semidarkness its a bit (not blurry, like it used to be) but not sharp either. In daylight or looking at the TV, everything is always very clear/crisp. The myopia is much better too....but still cant read tiny words in dim light, I need better lighting for that.
I figured everyones good eyes are like that....and that the extreme sharpness we had was due to contact lenses/glasses forcing the muscles to view?

Thanks for the reply. Right now I am still in the first 3 months, where vision is still variable day by day. Have to see how it all falls together after the healing is thru I guess! :)

jkm,
I am 1 year, 1 month, 2 weeks and some change post-op and, my vision still has blurry moments. Back at the beginning of my healing, I had that kind of blurriness (I think we are talking about the same thing) that would come and go throughout the day for the first 5 months I think. I have a really bad memory so, forgive me it it lasted longer or slightly shorter. I am positive that it lasted at least 3 months. I think you can click on my screen name and see my posts from when I started posting so, you can see for yourself my experience over the past year +. Anyway, I know alot of it was due to how dry my eyes were. I even have some blurriness yesterday because they were both dry and tired. It gets better though. Just be patient. Rome and your eyes are very similar. Rome wasn't built in a day and your previously poor vision won't heal in a day. There have been lucky people who have had nothing but greatness since the day they got their surgery but, from my experience and from reading others', that doesn't seem to be the norm. Another way to explain this would be to ask if you have ever had a new pair of shoes that took some time to break in? Basically, your eye sight is brand new and will take some time to break in. I don't know if that makes as much sense as it does inside my own head.
Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate! That will help. Just make sure they are non-preserved/Preservative Free drops. The other stuff only irritates your eyes and causes more issues down the line. If the box or container doesn't say preservative free or non-preserved on it, DO NOT BUY IT! I learned the hard way. I thought the brand I was using was non-preserved and probably ended up pushing my healing time back several months as a result.
Take care!

jkm,
It really isn't a matter of not having liked them. I actually liked them fine. Until I went to my regular eye doc for a regular check up and told him about my dry eye issue. He took a thorough look and saw some pretty bad dry spots. Asked me how often I use the drops (at that time I think I was using them every half hour to an hour and frequently more due to necessity). He asked me what brand I was using and told me that they were preserved drops that can, will and do cause more irritation on the eye which then causes a bigger need for more drops. He told me to stop using the drops that I was using and suggested a brand (Systane - Preservative Free/Non-preserved). He then told me to use them every 2 hours and get back to him in a week if my constant need to lubricate didn't get better. You know that sound of the Heaven's opening up or an intelligent thought creeping into your head? That sort of "Waaaaahhhhh", Angels singing kind of sound? I would swear that I heard that when my eyes started getting better! Every time I didn't need to reach for my drops after 15 minutes since the last time. When they stopped feeling like I had a lash in them all day, every day. When they stopped feeling like the desert! I know you don't know me but, I am almost begging you to trust me on this. Get the preservative free, non-preserved drops. Don't even give your eyes the chance to suffer like mine did before my regular doctor straightened my rear out. If the packaging doesn't say the words on it...don't buy it. Just walk away! This advice will save you money, problems, all kinds of things in the long run.
