Well, the title says it all really - some of the cavities I have are between my teeth, and I've only ever had fillings on the biting surfaces of my teeth, so how do they fill cavities between teeth? Do they have to drill down to the cavity from the top of the tooth or go in from the cheek side or what? Cos it seems that I'd be losing a fair amount of healthy tooth if that was the case. Just wondering, any help would be appreciated - thanks!

It depends on if the cavity is visible from the cheek or palate side. If it can be accessed that way (if it was in the front teeth) it would be. Usually though, they are drilled from the top to get to the decay.
