Hi everyone,

For the past couple of weeks my husband has complained about his shoulder bothering him.

I have given him a hot water bottle, aspirin, tried rubbing aspercreme on his shoulder with no luck, and the pain is getting worse. Right now is our busy time at work and he is lifting more and heavier objects, so he is not getting any rest for this at all.

Is there anything in our house, like a home remedy that could help him? I will try anything right now.

His father had busitis years ago in one of his shoulders, from his baseball days and he had to get the cortosone shot. Well my husband doesn't want to do this.

Is there anything anyone can think of?

Thanks

I have had the cortisone shots in my shoulder when I had a frozen shoulder. They really aren't that bad, just a few moments of pain when the cortisone breaks in but nothing you can't stand. My orthopedic doc gave me a numbing shot to insert the needle. The cortisone REALLY helps. He also gave me 800mgs of ibuprophen to take 3times a day. If you are going to take that much though you have to be sure you eat at the same time.

For a home remedy you could try putting some rice in a tube sock, closing off the open end and heating it for a minute or two in the microwave (I know you are using hot water bottle) and letting the sock surround the shoulder and maybe even rubbing something menthol on the shoulder before you add the heat. Good Luck.

Hi Lookin,

I would try the others treatments also. But, if he goes to a dr., they might give him cortison pills. They do not work as fast as the shot, tho. And there are other anti-inflammatories too. Also a muscle relaxer might help.

He had better be careful, or his shoulder/arm, just might freeze up on him.

One more thing that yall might try: Those heat pads (the most expensive ones, with charcoal) work well for about 8 - 10 hours. They have ones made for backs, knees, and ones that can go on shoulders too. I use them, when I am traveling for at least 1/2 a day.

I hope that your hubby feels better soon.

Take care.

It's possible he could have bursitis but also just as likely he could have a rotator cuff tear (as mentioned), nerve impingement or even kneck problems.
Heat is not a viable option if there is swelling involved, ice is more acceptable as heat actually increases swelling.
Over the counter pain relievers may help but he really should get it looked at to rule out anything serious, especially a tear or spur, which will only worsen in time if not properly treated

TRAUMEEL is a homepathic med that I call a MIRACLE for arthritis, sprangs, sciaticia, bursitis, and all kinds of maladies.

I would not be without this one pill if they took all other from me.

I buy mine on the net. GOOGLE SEARCH will lead you.
