As many of you know I was prescribed Duragesic and Lyrica.
I put off putting on the patch for a little while to talk to my Dr.. and I put it off longer to adjust to the Lyrica... since I have adjusted well I put it on tonight.
I put it on and the patch looks like it has condensation inside of it it. I see the gel substance, but besides that, there is condensation. Is that normal?
It is definitely looking like condensation with little beads of "water".
I know it might be a stupid question, but I just didn't know what to say, because the gel (medicine) and this "condensation" look completely different.
So far just feel a little drowsy.
*edited to add 2nd question* also... where can I get those covers that are made for them? do i have to contact the manufacturer? I use the Sandoz generic, if that makes a difference.

Hey BB ...have a question for you ...how expensive WITHOUT prescription insurance are patches ? ...My doc has MANY times suggested patches but Im just afraid theyll be up there with even GENERIC morphine sulfate like I was taking. ..I was getting 90 morphine sulfate cr tablets 12 hr 60 mg . ....without insurance they were abt $270 or so( they just went up)...and I also have my 90 hydrocodone 5s at $47.50. SO it was expensive to be able to get something done during the day !.....Last month I asked him to switch me to something cheaper that would work and Im now on methadose. ...90 pills at 25$ a month. Thats kinda a no brainer BUT the nodding off is killing me !....I cant shake the sleepies during the day either. ...Its kinda like it goes in spurts and I get an adrenaline rush and awake and ready to go then BAM...Im crashed and burned..any time anywhere !....
I see my doc WED so maybe Ill change to something else or something !?
thanx

The conensation is normal. I use a 100 mcg Sandoz Fentanyl patch and it looks like water underneath. It is perfectly normal.

Thanks wolfmarket... I appreciate it.. feel better about it.
And I use a CVS pharmacy and the month supply was $89.99. I had a $25 copay and the insurance payed $64.99... so it looks as though its less expensive than your morphine. So far so good with the patch, and I don't think I had to wait for the 24 hours to notice any benefits. It's been about 9 hours now and I can definitely feel it's working.
I haven't noticed any side-effects yet, and I don't feel drowsy at all anymore.
I would inquire about the patch, I've forgot I even had it on. I put it on my upper arm (someone on here had said they put it on their upper arm, and then rotated to the other arm when it was time to put a new one on).
Let me know what you decide choctaw.
Does anyone know about the J&J cover you can get for it... where I could find them? I can't seem to locate that information.

So, I've been up all night... I don't know how long it takes for the medicine in the patch to absorb into the system... but 10 hours or so after putting it on I got hit with very "woozy" feeling and nervousness.... I'm not opiate tolerant and I guess it hit me like a ton of bricks..
That's another question.
How long does it take for the medicine to absorb to where you'd notice the side-effects?
The first 10 hours nothing was noticable... now like 12 hours into it, I feel it, for sure.
I'm using the 25mcg/hr Sandoz Fentanyl patches... Don't think the brand makes a difference, but the dose might.
Sorry for all the questions, just like to know as much as I can.
I know I have asked a lot in this thread. Anyone that will care to share information I'd love.

When I woke up this morning I felt so sick... the nausea and dizziness was HORRIBLE.. literally... I feel like I have the flu and I'm going to throw up.. but I know 100% that it's from the medicine.
UGH, I feel HORRIBLE. How long does this last....? I've never reacted this way to a medicine in my life, and throwing up and feeling this way almost isn't worth it to take it.. but if I don't take it my PMD wasn't/isn't willing to prescribe oral medication or any other pain medication because I'm 25... and I guess since I'm young this is the one he was willing to prescribe because the oral ones have risks "for addiction". I know the dependant/addiction difference, and that's why I was disheartened to hear a nurse at a pain management place say it.
So if I don't keep this on, I risk him not seeing me as a patient, because I'm not taking the one thing he will prescribe me (only pain medication) besides Lyrica and anti-depressants.
I'm probably making no sense but I feel so weird, I don't really care, I'm just trying to get it out there so you can help.
There is absolutely no way I could do this for more than a few days, if that... because it's just plain AWFUL. And like I said above, the Dr. was ONLY willing to prescribe this because of my age (25).
Ugh, Ugh, Ugh. I don't know what to do... I called the Dr.'s office, but obviously they weren't able to put a nurse on and I have to wait for them to call me back.
