Hello everybody!! I have read though some of these messages and you all seem very helpful and friendly.
I have a question though..I had all of my upper teeth pulled on March 4th, so 4 days ago..I had a temporary top denture put in that day..The dentist instructed me to leave the denture in for 24 hours and then take it out and let it soak..He told me to put it back in Monday morning..That is where the problem lies..I can't get it back in..The pain is WAY to much for me..I don't know if it is because my gums are still swollen or what..but it hurts..
Does anybody have ANY suggestions on how to get the thing back in? I really need some help with this.

have you tried Benzodent on your gums---it will numb them and thake the soreness away so you can get them in--put on your gums and leave it on a few minutes before you try to put your dentures back in--also, do
warm salt water rinses--it will relieve the soreness. Hope you get them back in ok and that you feel better.

Hello BamBam, I'm schedualed to have all of my uppers taken out on St. Pattys day. I have 11. Can you describe the feeling? Does your face look any different. The thing is, I have a week off work, than have to go back. Will it be very noticable? I have to wait 1 month for the dentures. Can you keep me up to date on your progress-Thanks Deb

i kept mine out for ten days after the first 24 hrs, then put them back in--too much pain for ME! Didn't hurt things none, but the pain was gone, THEN I could start the road to getting used to them!

deb-do you have any lowers? Might be kinda hard to talk is all. people might notice that you have no teeth, but it's the bottoms out that really makes your face draw in! LOL! Plus I think you get in the habit of sucking your lips in.

Feeling: My jaw closes more than before. Gums feel tickly like the roof of my mouth. Face feels "smushed" when my mouth is closed all the way. I get the feeling (but not the appearance) of having jowls without them too.
Those few I have allowed to see me without my dentures claim I am "cute" without them. No one can explain why. My pic on a singles site was taken without my teeth in (mouth closed normally) and I've had plenty of interested women. It always makes me laugh when I read in their profile "must have all his teeth". They emailed a toothless man, pictured without teeth, yet they want a guy with all his teeth. I have em, they're just plastic.
For a few days after my extractions the area between my mouth and nose felt numb and I couldn't really control the right side of my upper lip for a while. That was annoying, but it went away. And every once in a while (it's been almost 9 months since my extractions) I get phantom pains just like I had before the teeth were pulled. Really don't understand those.

I still get phantom pains from a molar I had pulled years ago, Its like a toothache then you say there is no tooth there and it goes away. My husband still gets these now and then, its been over 10yrs for him now, but he has this problem less and less.
