I hate plain water, but I know that I need to drink more in order to be healthy. Beside lemon, how can I jazz up the water? What do some of you all do to help with the flavor of water? thanks

Best advice I can give you is to change the way you think about it. Make yourself enjoy it. It is all about habits and mindset. I drink between 140-160 oz of water a day. Water is the only thing I drink ever besides milk. I never get tried of it and I never don't want to drink it. You are conditioned to drinking other things so naturally something that doesn't have flavor, sugar,or carbination doesn't seem as good. Remind yourself everytime you drink it how good it is for you. After a while it will become a habit and you won't even think about it.

There are sugar free powdered mixes you can add to 16oz bottles of water now. I know Crystal LIght has them as well as WalMart brands. They make drinking water sooooo much easier. Flavors such as lemonade, raspberry ice, peach iced tea, orange drink.

There are plenty of flavored waters. I enjoy Propel Fitness Water by Gatorade. My favorite is just natural H2O though. But yes, pleeenty of options for you.

Or do like at the restraunts...put some lemon in it.

This thread just reminded me I've had no water all day...I should chug some down and head to bed!

Here's a different approach for motivation to drink "plain" water--After bladder repair surgery, I spent 35 days on a catheter and my GNY told me to drink a lot of water because drinking water keeps your urine ph level which prevents kidney and bladder infections. He said just plain water, no flavorings or artificial sweeteners. Ever since he told me that, I have been drinking 8 - 10 glasses of "plain" water. And I never drank water before that, only sweetened iced tea. :)

You could put water in the blender with strawberries or blueberries or raspberries or bananas. Pick whatever fruit you like or use all of them or just a couple. Then throw some ice in it and and blend some more until smooth it'll be like a smoothie with lots of fruit and water. Super healthy and flavorful.

Try bottled Seltzer Water, either flavored (it is subtle) or plain...the fizz makes it seem like a soft drink but it has no sugar, no calories, no sodium..just pure H2O. All I drink...

Keep bottles of water handy, set a timer and drink a glass. Just chug-a-lug like it is good!!!

Yeah that works too. I like water but sometimes I am not in the mood to drink some but I will just have some by me all of the time and chug some down just because I know I should. Just pretend that you like it.

a good way to get more water in your diet without noticing is with broth type soups and watery fruits like grapes and watermellons....plus your getting other nutrients with it.

I was a not water drinker, then years ago, out came these sport bottles of water and I started drinking them, actually squeezing them into me, and after awhile it becomes a habit and that is all that I want.

I now keep a gallon of water at my desk at home, in the family room, in the ktichen, and I just chug it and I love it, and I yeah I have to visit the bathroom alot, but I feel better. I have found that when I have a hunger pain if I drink water, it takes that huinger pain away.

Start with 1 bottle of water and carry it with you where ever you go and start drinking it, and see what happens, I think it helps keep my skin nicer, not so dry and patchy :bouncing:

Bit expensive, but one of my friends was desperate to want to drink water (she didn't like the taste, or lack of it). She also didn't want to take in the amount of saccharin or other sweeteners usually found in the flavoured waters. She ended up going to a hypnotherapist who, in one session, converted her to the taste of plain water.
Seemingly, whenever she wants a drink, her mind immediately pictures a tall glass of cold, crisp, clear water and she heads for the tap or the mineral water jug and down it goes. It cost her £70 for the hypnosis but she is really pleased with the result. It has also helped her to eat more fruit and more healthily generally as she finds she goes into the kitchen and simply doesn't want biscuits or crisps, she goes straight to the fruit bowl or some chopped vegetables as a snack. She basically just asked the hypnotherapist to re-program her brain to convince her that she likes this stuff.
It might not be for everyone, but it worked for her.
Personally, I can't get enough of the stuff. I always have a 50cl bottle of plain tap water with me and I refill it between 4 and 6 times a day, as well as always ordering a jug of water at a restaurant etc.
