Hello ladies, I am about to be 40 (friday to be exact!) and I feel like I am losing my mind! I am very emotional and worry all the time (not like me!) and i just get snappy all the time! I have been having HEAVY periods for about 4 months, and wake up to pee all the time, have been having rectal "fullness" right when my period starts. Are these all symptoms of pre-menopause or what? If so, i think this will be a rough road for me! lol
Thanks, Kerri

Thank you for the birthday wishes.....Yes, I am forgetful now! I used to be able to remember EVERYTIHNg and now I forget if I take tylenol or no and worry about ANYTHING! This sucks! How long is this supposed to last? Is there a drug you can take for it? You almost feel like you are losing your mind right?

Happy Birthday, a bit late, but I hope it was Happy !
Yes, I remember that when I was in peri, I used to always feel like I had to go to the bathroom, so I appreciate your term rectal fullness.Your symptoms get better once you menopause. The one that I had to deal with was nausea.Very few women get that.My body started to act like a pregnant woman when I got to the last stages of peri. I had never been nauseas a day in my life until than. A very good, caring and up to date gynecologist (shop around if you have to) can take you through it safely and comfortably.
Try not to pop pills for every symptom, though. You can use organic remedies for some things.
I used to get brain fog during peri. That's where you feel like you're not there. It was weird but it went away .

Hi Keri,
See, I forgot to check this part of the board. LOL
I know this sucks, but it's part of our system. I am writing a lot down now, and like you, I used to remember everything. I don't know how long this is supposed to last, but from what the other ladies on the board had said, it could last up to 10 years. Yep, 10 whole years! LOL
I think attitude is a big part of this. As much as I hate this change of life and I'm dreading more possible changes, I am going to try to take it in stride. I figured, it's nature of telling our bodies that we're going on the 3rd phase. As for pills, I'd say try to minimize it because our grandparents went through menopause without pills, I'm sure we can manage. I am drinking & eating more soy based food such as edame. Love to snack on them. But be carefuly about eating soy, it could raise your cholesterol level. Also, I've increased my exercise regimen. My dress size went down to size 4 (I'm 5'7") which is not my plan UGH. I want my size 6 back and I toned down on my weight training because I know doing weights increases your metabolism. And I'm eating more carbs! LOL Also, on the days I exercise, I noticed that my sleep is much deeper and I don't wake up in the middle of the night.
Just a few tips to share with you since we're both on the same boat. :D
Let us know how you're doing Keri and I hope you had a great birthday celebration! :D
