Is anyone hare on Phenobarb? Can anyone tell me how they feel when they are on it? Tired? Sedated? Our newborn was just put on the Phenobarb for a seizure and the doctor told us it was probably a one time thing from stress from being in the hospital. She was being treated for an Ecoli infection and was at the end of her antibiotic and they told us it was too much for her body to handle. We just want to know how this is going to affect her. They want her on it for a year. She just seems so sedated after she takes it. We are being told different things by different nurses and doctors. Please help.

I was on phenobar as a child for my petite mal seizures; all I did was either sleep or sit in a daze. I am told my relatives felt very sorry for me because I looked so pathetic on the stuff; It didn't help, but it was worth the try. I had fallen down cement steps at the age of two and had 75+ seizures a day!!
For eight years I was on one med and another and was prayed over, too. One day the docs took me off the meds and told my mother there was just nothing that was helping me; the very next day, I went from 75 seizures a day to ZERO! I think I had been healed but on the meds, it wasn't going to show! don't give up! prayer is real! but make sure if you do this, find a REAL man of god because I wouldn't want any of those "strange" ones touching or laying hands on my precious child.
BUT phenobar did make me sleep all the time;
