View Full Version : Suggestions for opening jaw in the a.m.?

It seems I clench the worst at night and when I wake the entire right side of my head is light up with pain. My jaws don't want to open but I make them and I can hear the snapping and crunching when I do.

Is that a bad thing to do? Any suggestions? My doctors have become pretty useless on this subject so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks,
K.

I hate it, but I have had to switch to sleeping on my back :( Do you sleep on your back. My jaw is always a little stuck in the morning. I try to take a few minutes to stretch everything out before hopping out of bed. Do you sleep with a splint, or anything?

I try to sleep on my back, but a pinched sciatic nerve is making it very hard atm.

I also have a bite guard but I take it out in my sleep & wake up to find it anywhere but in my mouth.

I wish the dr. or dentist would give me an rx of muscle relaxers or something instead of klonopin at bedtime(which doesn't seem to help).

Thanks for the reply.

K.
