Can thrush affect places other than your tongue? I have spots that feel rough/irritated on the lining of my cheeks. When I first wake up sometimes there is some white stuff on my gums and near those areas. It's painful when brushing those areas. Also, I have certain spots on my gums that are white and they brush off, leaving my gums bleeding where they were. They keep coming back as white spots and brushing back off. Should I avoid brushing that off or keep doing it?

Thanks for the reply. I have a cleaning next week so I'll ask my dentist about it then.

Anyone know if tea tree oil works? I read this..

1. Add 5 drops of pure tea tree oil into glass of water (cold or warm)
2. Swish and gargle mixture in mouth for 1 minute and spit
3. Repeat twice daily
NOTE: DO NOT SWALLOW

Would this actually help? And how much water do you mix it with if you were to use it? Thanks & God Bless

I don't know about tea tree oil, I have heard of people using it and it is supposed to help. I was going to suggest yogurt. My oldest son had the worst time with thrush and after a while the meds the doc prescribed did not help at all. The pharmacist told me to try giving him yogurt a few times a day, and in just a few days it was completely gone. I was amazed at how well it worked.

I tried yogurt once, but I hated the taste. Any particular yogurt? I'm willing to eat it if it helps.. :) Thanks for the reply.

We gave him all kinds. I don't think the flavor matters. I know yogurt isn't the best, but it was our miracle drug. You might try some plain yogurt and add things to it like fruit or granola. It has a better taste that way. I think this way tastes better than the ones that already have the fruit in them. Good luck, I hope you get better soon!

Ok. I'll try yogurt then. I have an appointment at 10:30 with the dentist this morning for a cleaning, so I'll probably be getting something to rinse with. But I'm still gonna try the yogurt along with that. I just hope the thrush isn't a symptom of something serious.
