I have just be informed that my uterus is tilted backwards. I had one child when I was 24 and are not sure if it was before or not. I have been tryign to get pregnant for the past 18 months and was wondering if anyone could suggest the best position during and after to ensure the swimmers get to their desire destination.

Ironically it was never this hard before... all suggestions v. welcome.

Linda :) :)

I have the same thing and my doctor ensured me that there is no relationship between fertility and this condition. In fact about 1/3 of women have the same thing.

I was just told my uterus is "curved" and at my trial for my IVF, my doc was quite proud of herself when getting the catheter where it needed to be. She seemed so excited when she got it there, as if it was difficult. Meanwhile, I felt nothing.

But, she never said it would be an issue for IVF. I am wondering though if it was another factor against my poor DH's little guys when we were trying naturally. They already don't swim very well, and they also don't have many friends. But thankfully, IVF with ICSI can bypass all of these issues.

I don't have a uterus tilting backwards, but fowards. I was able to get my hands on my HSG film and could tell that my uterus is almost horizontal. I wonder if this would be an issue too?

I also noticed a few days before my O that my cervix changed positions; from pointing almost straight down (where I could feel it with my finger tip) to pointing almost foward (towards my pubic bone- sort of) where I had to curve my finger to feel the opening. Has anyone experienced this too?

Any info would be super!

I have researched this a little, and many resources say that "Doggy Style" or hands and knees is the best for any kind of natural conception. This is because of the depth of penitration (sp?) your partner is able to get, and becuase the clitoris is open for stimulation to help you with orgasim (which also is said to help "dip" your cervix in the pool of semen left inside). They say to stay in that position for a few minutes after ejaculation so that gravity can help those little guys reach their final destination. They also say the the use of a pillow to lift your hips after is not needed if you stay in this position for a few minutes.

I hope this helps and is understandable. Good luck! :bouncing:
