Recently, my father received a letter from Independence Bank, something in regards to health insurance. He gave it to me to read, however I don't understand it.

Being that I don't have health insurance at the moment, he thought it was a good idea for me. It reads something in regards to paying a monthly fee of $19.98 and that will entitle me to benefits like dentists, prescriptions, etc...

I am not clear on it -does a bank offer health insurance? Or is this something that helps keep your minimum doctor visit fee down and needs to be used in conjuction with an existing health care provider? Anyone know?

While I don't know the specifics of your plan, any health plan that is only $19.98/month probably isn't very good. At best, it may offer you discounts at pharmacies or something, but it probably doesn't hold any weight as an actual "medical insurance."

Hi,
Thanks for replying. Okay, I have the sheet in front of me. It says "Health Discount Plan" it's a card and what it does is reduce the amount of money you pay out of your pocket for healthcare services. However it states that it is not health insurance. Now, it provides an "individual plan" rate of $19.95/month

So, all this does is decrease, somewhat, the amount of money I would pay for health are? Has anyone heard of such thing? How much will it save me is what I want to know. Thanks.

Please get yourself a real insurance policy. These cards are nothing more then slight discounts, available to AAA, AARP, Seniors etc.etc. Remember, there is no free lunch.
