Hi, I wake up early every weekday to go to college and I always drink 1-2 cups of coffee. I reduce the quantity and now I drink just 1 cup but sometimes I feel discomfort after drinking coffee , what other things can I consume that will make me feel really awake in the mornings??

thanks!
Monica

Try green tea! I'm a 21 yr. old college student with early classes, and this keeps me awake without that caffeinated "buzz" feeling. I just feel awake and healthy after I drink it. The best kinds are found at health food stores, or in the organic/natural section of your local grocery store.

I put two tea bags in a coffee mug filled with boiling hot water and let it seep for about 5 minutes. I put it in a travel mug and take it with me, it's great! Good for you too =)

Tea is the best alternative. I stepped away from coffee, though sometimes I sneak a small cup in the morning. Only because I have to be fully alert when I'm at work. Need the caffine. Otherwise, tea lattes are good throughout the day. And healthy too (with the anti-oxidants it provides).

You could try Yerba Mate tea. It's green and smoky tasting. A lot of people on the web say it gives an alertness and energy like coffee without the jitters. It has a small amount of caffeine and MAO inhibitors like st john's wort. I don't get any energy from it but it makes me feel calmer. I can't drink coffee at all because it makes me very nervous and irritable. Yerba Mate won't make you jumpy.

Eating an apple in the morning will make you feel more alert and awake than coffee.

Postum or a flavored tea. There are some teas that taste close to coffie.
