I'm hoping someone can help me... I'm very confused.
About two weeks ago I woke up and my left arm was numb, I let it go thinking that I slept on it weird. A few days later my left leg was numb (like a burning) I went to my Dr. and he gave me a prescription called Norontin. After two days on this drug I was in the E.R with a bad reaction. I went back to my regular Dr. the next day and he told me that he suspects that I have a disease called Fibromyalgia but, he doesn't believe in this disease and says that only women with "problems" have this. Since I am currently on Lexapro for deppression while going through a messy divorce he apparently labeled me the same way. He believes that it is "all in my head" I'm just trying to find out what is wrong with me and am obviously getting nowhere with my Dr. can someone please help?????

If you are able please find a rheumatologist to be seen by... Any Dr these days with your Dr's attitude is NOT someone you wish to be treated by!!

Fibro is DEFINITLY a disease... and deserves to be treated as such!!!

you can also check out some other fibro sites such as Fibrohugs.com that can put you in touch with some dr's in your area hopefully or prohealth.com chat room for fibro..

please continue to post on here so we will know how you are doing and if we can help in anyway!!!

Thank you sooo much for responding. Unfortunatley, I can't change Dr. yet because of my medical insurance. The Dr told me to continue taking the Nurontin that he originally prescribed but, the first time I took it I ended up in the E.R with a bad reaction. I don't know what I should do.
Do you have any suggestions of other ways I could relieve my pain (the burning in my leg)?? I'm afraid to take this medication again.
