I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and Celexa for depression. I was only experiencing anxiety, but took the Celexa for nine days. Had bad side effects (insomnia, tired during the day, etc.). I just decided to stop taking it since I had only been on it for nine days (mistake). I tapered off the Klonopin (the generic form actually) a few days ago. I have been experiencing flu like symptoms since stopping the Celexa a few weeks ago (headache, nausea, muscle aches). Was wondering if anyone else had this experience and how long did it last? I feel like poop right now and can't wait for it to end...

Heh im getting kinda scared. I went off Celexa about 3 weeks ago and since its been in my system for about a year, it probably takes about 3 weeks to get out of my body. This might explain the bad stomache/headache problems ive had for the last few days. Btw I got off it without any help for my doc, I just stopped taking it all together.Probably not the best idea lol.
Aside for the tiredness which I hated, the celexa helped me feel alot better though. Just a positive note about the drug.

hi if your still feelin crap a trip to the doctors may be called for, l guess you know now you shouldnt of just 'stopped' but you did so wots done is done, talk to ur doc maybe/probally your symptoms are due to the fact you stopped abruptly after a year http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif i didnt i tapered for about 5/6 weeks till I DECIDED when was best for me. My doctor said stopping celexa after a few short weeks should not make you ill, or suffer withdrawals good luck you two http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif

I have been on Celexa for over a year and have supplemented it with SAM-e. I took my last Celexa 4 days ago (Thu) and had an appointment with my psychiatrist on Fri; she didn't give me a refill. Today, (Sun) I have had a migraine headache all day - it is a chronic condition for which I have meds - and I took some Imitrex but it had no effect. I have some Axert so I'll try one of those. I have had good results with Imitrex as well as with Axert in the past. My shrink told me to stop taking SAM-e as well but I don't think I could manage without anything.

I just started Celexa after being on Effexor since Nov. You didn't say what time of the day you took the pill. If you were tired all day I am thinking you took it in the morning? I started taking mine in the morn and was also tired. So I took it in the eve. and now sleep like a baby and am awake all day. Being on it for 9 days isn't really long enough to let it work. Maybe taking it at a different time would have helped.
