HAd bloodwork done a couple weeks ago. Liver tests came back elevated. I don't drink and have never used drugs. I am so very scared. I have used Afrin for the last 6 months for congestion. Could that be the cause of the elevation. Going to the doc today to "discuss" the result of the bloodwork. I am so scared I can't sleep and function. I have no symptoms at all, so this is unsettling.

Mojogal, please get back to us with what your doctor said. My appt. is Wed, the 15th, and I, too, cannot figure out why my enzymes are so high. See my exercise post. PS What are your numbers anyways, if I may ask? Thank you, phovo

Doctor could not figure out why liver tests were elevated. Had another blood test. She asked a bunch of questions, none of which could help determine the cause of the elevation. One thing she said it could be is a virus, i.e. mono. She is checking for mono. if the liver test comes back elevated, she is going to run more tests. My levels were AST 61 ALT 61 and ALK phos 141; all mildly elevated but still elevated. It is my understanding (from what I have read about liver enzymes--forgot to ask the doc) that more often than not it doesn't matter if the numbers are low or high beyond the normal range--if it's elevated-it's elevated. Is this true? I totally trust my doc, and she said she is not too concerned..yet. Still very scared and worried.
